Gudrun Schirmer

Initially she took photographs – black and white, then she painted – ochre and sand, now she models, she polishes – agate and small stones, she engraves, she fires and bakes again: the last savage in the earth itself where the fire signs her handprint. Natural pieces, mineral, with no give nor concession, like the country in which she lives: hillsides, ravines and infinite plateaus, surrounded by the mountains of Provence. Gudrun’s eathenwear tells of tamed harshness, of contrasted rigour, the absolute beauty of this primal land.
