Sylvie Piaud

“I am constantly searching for the balance between colour and absence; between space and fullness, between myself and the Other”. In her green garden in Query, Sylvie is at one with nature and able to savour the harmony and savageness of life. Her pieces speak of the difficulty and wonder of being. She expresses a poetry at once both tender and brutal, rhythmic, of a baroque stripped of all glitter. Pictorial ceramics with understated colours but possessing a power that evokes Chagall, Vuillard and Nicolas of Staël, who once wrote: “poetry must think through colours, sounds and rhythms, all the beauties of the universe.”
